The Built Environment

BUSINESS, INDUSTRIAL AND COMMUNITY

We pride ourselves on our ability to incorporate innovative buildings, business ideas and industrial projects into their surrounding environments.

Our latest business and industrial projects include:

Project: CHRISTCHURCH COMMUNITY FACILITIES

We prepared, lodged and presented evidence on resource consents lodged on behalf of the Christchurch City Council for the Graham Condon Recreation and Sports Centre, and for the new Halswell Library and Community Facility. Working with a multi-disciplinary team we successfully achieved consent for both of these important projects.

Project: MIDWAY PARK BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT IN CHRISTCHURCH

This project required us to analyse and prepare an assessment of the effects on the environment of these 12 separate business units. We developed and lodged a land use consent with Christchurch City Council as well as a storm water discharge consent with Environment Canterbury. This project also involved liaising and consulting with a wide range of specialists, including architects, designers and traffic consultants.

Project: HANMER SPRINGS THERMAL POOLS AND SPA

Working alongside other consultants and specialists, we enabled Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa to obtain resource consents to redevelop their spa, private pools and saunas and as a separate project redevelop and extend the pool facilities onto an adjoining site. These projects required consideration of social, community, economic and heritage matters to ensure the surrounding environment was protected.

Project: A NEW SALES FACILITY IN TEMPLETON

We helped our clients gain resource consent to establish a new building to sell and repair a range of farm machinery. This resource consent involved considering submissions from a wide range of stakeholders and negotiating their agreement. We also collated and presented evidence at a contested hearing and were involved in setting the strategy for dealing with the many submissions that were presented during this project.

RESIDENTIAL AND HOUSING

We are acutely aware that the design, planning and management of residential spaces have considerable influence on the way we live, socialise and relate to our environment.

Our latest residential developments include:

Project: A RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN IN MANDEVILLE

We successfully assisted our client in their application to rezone land from rural to facilitate residential development in Mandeville, which involved consulting with stakeholders and others affected by the changes. As part of this project we co-ordinated the other consultants working on the project.

Project: WAITAKERE VILLAGE RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

We project managed the planning process for this comprehensive housing development incorporating 13 residential units. We prepared a resource consent application and provided planning evidence to a Council hearing on our client’s behalf.

Project: A COMBINED RESIDENTIAL APARTMENT AND RETAIL DEVELOPMENT IN PICTON

We prepared and lodged a notified resource consent application with the Marlborough District Council for the development of this multi-story commercial and residential building. After the approved decision was appealed, we prepared and presented evidence for the Environment Court hearing.

Project: RESIDENTIAL DWELLINGS

We have prepared and lodged resource consent applications on multi-unit developments and for individuals dwellings.

UTILITIES AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Collectively, we have worked on a vast range of public utility planning projects, including road and infrastructure projects.

Some of our latest utility projects include:

Project: BELFAST URBAN EXTENSION

We provided Transit New Zealand with advice on their proposed road extension in the Belfast urban area. We assessed the development yield of over 100 hectares of land with a variety of residential, mixed-use and business development opportunities. We also provided advice on the planning implications of the proposed extension on the existing and future road networks, and prepared evidence and negotiated the plan provisions for the Environment Court hearing.

Project: DEVELOPMENT OF A WIND FARM

We provided resource management advice for MainPower New Zealand Limited on the development of a Wind Farm in Canterbury. This project included obtaining permission to erect the monitoring towers, developing the consultation strategy for the Wind Farm proposal, and writing the assessment report on the environmental effects of the project in preparation for their resource consent application. We also presented evidence to the Environment Court which granted consent for the project.
